dinner"Okay, starting with my father, John King in the center foreground, a terrible picture of him but all of us were so thrilled he made it to that weekend in New York for my show, for he had been suffering through chemo therapy for lung cancer all that year. At 85 then, a remarkably durable valiant man. A physicist. Still fighting. He is flanked on our right by his beloved nephew Miles King, whose Dad (my father's brother) was killed at a too-young age in an airplane accident. And on our left, Miles's wife Carol. And clockwise from Carol are their three children: Miles Jr., Shelby, and Kelsey. This is the Colorado branch of our family. And then still going clockwise after Kelsey King, is Bob Erbetta and my sister Francie King, partners, and these guys live in Marblehead MA. And you, Harry, had just met them all at Kent Gallery and it just happened that you guys and these guys all went to the same restaurant for lunch. And it meant so much to my Dad that Mike and Gail went over and spoke to him. But I didn't know you took this picture. And it fills me with pleasure (and sadness that I wasn't at the table!). That entire King family from Boulder flew to New York to see us. It was a reunion for my Dad. My show only provided a kind of pretext and date.
